Chaplaincy Program

School chaplains, sometimes referred to as wellbeing officers, are a valued part of our school’s pastoral care team. Working alongside staff and families, they contribute to a coordinated approach to supporting children’s social and emotional wellbeing.

Our chaplain, Miss Mandy, provides a caring, approachable presence and a safe place for children to talk, feel heard and receive support without judgement. Through individual conversations and small-group activities, she helps students build self-esteem, develop positive peer relationships and navigate challenges such as grief, loss and changes in family circumstances. She can also offer support and encouragement to families and staff, particularly during times of stress or crisis.

School chaplains do not have any role in teaching religion in public schools.

The Ellen Stirling Primary School Chaplaincy Program is voluntary and supported by the ESPS School Board. The school and its community determine the services provided, ensuring they respond to local needs and contribute to a safe, inclusive and caring school environment.
